Oh, I remember how much I love this city... But it's changed. It's different. I hadn't taken in account how far apart in time Willy's world and my own are. More than sixty years...
But the city is still Venice. Ancient bridges and tradition and water. And we're staying at the heart of it. Willy's amazing elevator set us down directly outside the Bauer il Palazzo, on the docks. We startled a few gondaliers, I fear, but at the time, I was in little condition to notice. For a first time flying, that was... quite the experience. It was exhilarating and... awe-inspiring is not too strong a phrase to use, but I've never been so scared. It's a glass box. Honestly. You can't see it around you, there's nothing under you for miles but clouds and birds. I think... I think if he hadn't been there I might have curled up in a ball and whimpered all the way to Venice.
But he was there, and that made the difference. When you're with a man like that, of course a glass box can fly. So can a stone, or a fish, or the carpet on your floor.
The hotel is also incredible. Our two suites open onto the roof gardens, and I nearly slept outside for the beauty of Venice at night. And tomorrow, we explore!
